Vision

To create a shared, accessible shuttle system that links both towns, enhancing mobility for residents of all ages

Why?

• Alleviate traffic congestion and reduce reliance on cars

• Enhance accessibility to employment, businesses, services, and recreation

• Foster independence for teens and seniors

Path Forward

• Meetings in June 2026 and this summer to progress as a collaborative initiative between South Orange and Maplewood

• Fall 2026: Conduct a community survey to confirm routes, schedules, and demand

• Investigate a pilot model utilizing existing vehicles or partnering with a vendor

• Seek NJTPA grant funding, supported by a shared local contribution

• Plan for long-term sustainability through fares, partnerships, and phased funding

A group of Maplewood & South Orange neighbors encouraging the towns to apply for a joint grant for a shared shuttle service.
